Add subtitle text-6Our body is always talking to us in the language of sensations and symptoms.

Every ache and pain is a way of our body saying “hello! Pay attention to me!”

Today, I want to focus on the specific body messages and signs that let you know that that you aren’t eating right for your body.

You’ll notice that I stated YOUR body, because the food that works for me and my body – or what works for my kids and their bodies – is not necessarily what will work for you and YOUR body.

It’s easy to get swept up into trying to eat “right” – “right” being the latest diet, be it Paleo or Raw Food or Vegan or Macrobiotic – or any of the other “right” ways of eating.

I’m interested and passionate about helping you find out what’s right for YOU – specifically you!

And the way that we can start to do that is by getting clear on the signs that you’re NOT eating right for your body.

Here are 5 signs that you’re not eating right for your body:

1.TIRED:

Fatigue or lethargy after you eat – anywhere from 10 minutes to 1.5 hours after you eat – is an indicator that something you’re eating is draining you. That could be because of a food sensitivity (like gluten, dairy, corn…all common food sensitivities), or it could be because you’ve eaten more than your body can process easily, and digestion is taking up your valuable energy resources.

2. WIRED:

Do you get a bit hyper after eating? Again, you’re body is reacting too intensely to what you’re eating. Eating should leave you feeling energized in a balanced and calm way. It shouldn’t leave you feel buzzy or anxious.

3. CRAVINGS:

Cravings are like a neon sign from your body saying “I need something that I’m not getting here!” Cravings are a message that there is a nutritional imbalance that needs to be addressed. Cravings can also be a sign that we are not being nourished on an emotional level.

4. STARVING OR STUFFED:

If your two belly states are “I’m starving” or “I’m stuffed,” then you’re not eating right for YOUR body. Your eating rhythm – when, and how often you eat – is off kilter. Feeling sated and comfortable in your belly is what you’re aiming for.

5. DIGESTIVE DIS-EASE:

Does your tummy hurt? Are you constipated? Do you have digestive issues? There couldn’t be a clearer sign that there’s something in your diet that isn’t working, or there’s something that you need that isn’t there. So often women learn to live with digestive discomfort. If that’s you, please pay attention to the signs! You don’t have to live that way!

6. FEELING GUILTY ABOUT WHAT YOU ATE:

Are you giving yourself a hard time after you eat?

  • “I shouldn’t have eaten that!”
  • “I wish I had stopped earlier”
  • “I can’t believe I ate the whole package”
  • “Ugh, I got caught in the sugar again!”

If you’re beating yourself up about what you ate…something’s off. Eating should be a pleasurable experience – that leaves you feeling good in your body – and about yourself.

When we can listen to what isn’t working, and start respecting the signs our body is giving us, then we are much more able to make food choices that support and serve our unique body.
