I’ve never met anyone who didn’t like Nutella!
Really, what’s not to like: sweet, creamy, chocolatey and nutty all at the same time. The only problem is that as much as I have loved Nutella in my lifetime – and I have truly loved Nutella (in fact when I was sixteen years old and bicycling through Holland with my best friend Anna, we lived on Nutella) – Nutella has regrettably never loved me back.
The sugar, the dairy, and the artificial flavoring leave me feeling very blah, and so I said goodbye to Nutella some years ago. Until….I was experimenting with carob and stumbled upon my own Healthy Nutella creation!
If you really dislike Carob you can use Raw Cacao, but I’ve been using Carob more and more in my recipes because the caffeine in Cacao is just too much for me, nor do I want my kids having the caffeine either.
I added orange peel to give it a little “Je ne sais quoi” – you know, a little elegance. It’s not necessary, but quite lovely.
Healthy Nutella – with a hint of orange
No sugar, dairy or nuts
Mix together well:
- 1 Tablespoon Carob powder (or Raw Cacao)
- 1 Tablespoon Extra Virgin Raw Coconut Oil
- 1 Tablespoon Coconut Nectar
- ⅛ Teaspoon Vanilla – alcohol free
- 1 Teaspoon Orange Rind

I can’t make out what you are putting the “nutella” on in the image?
What would you suggest putting nutella on if we are wanting to go gluten/dairy free?
I love my healthy Nutella on bananas!
