In last week’s blog, I shared that I’m focusing on re-balancing my body after being away for a month.

There were a LOT of big family, celebratory meals, and I briefly stepped away from deeply listening to what works best for my body. I’m feeling a bit heavier and bloated than I’m used to. I’m ready to get back to feeling my best…and I’ve started feeling better already.

Now, I’m ALL about feeling comfortable and totally at ease in your body – no matter what size.

So you’ll notice, that while I’d like to lighten-up a bit, I’m not “hating” on my body or telling myself I’m bad or wrong for being “fuller” right now.

I’m loving my body – exactly as it is! And, at the same time – I’m choosing deeply nourishing foods and stepping into eating habits (like sitting down!) – that relax me and support a happy metabolism.

I’m not talking diet or deprivation here! I’m talking about filling myself – and my fridge –  with foods that make me thrive!

After eating for 7 days in my own home and choosing deeply nourishing foods, I already feel like my body is changing. I’m less bloated, my energy is up and my clothes are fitting a bit looser.

If you want to join my healthy journey, I’m doing a special Hormonal Harmony balancing reboot. You can learn about it and join me here: Hormonal Harmony Deep Dive experience.

I want to share with you what’s in my fridge, to inspire you to have a fridge that is overflowing with food that you love…and that loves you back.

This picture is my “before” pic. At the beginning of August,  we left for Canada for a month, so I cleared everything out and cleaned the fridge so that I’d have a clean slate to come back to at the end of the month

Here’s what it looked like the day after we got back to Boston:

fridge after

Jam packed with vibrant, high quality foods.

Let me get more specific about what’s in there:

Loads of vegetables:

  • Spinach
  • Bok Choy
  • Kale
  • Swiss Chard
  • Beets
  • Celery
  • Romaine
  • Arugula
  • Fresh Basil
  • Carrots
  • Cauliflower
  • Broccoli
  • Mushrooms – several varieties
  • Jicama
  • Parsley
  • Red Peppers

Fruits:

  • Berries
  • …whatever else is in season
  • Young coconuts

Delicious flavor enhancers:

  • Ginger
  • Turmeric
  • Lemon & Limes
  • fresh Basil
  • fresh Mint

Healthy Protein: (we don’t eat meat, we are a mix of pesca-tarians and vegetarians in our family)

  • Sprouted organic Tofu
  • Smoked Fish
  • Pasture-raised Eggs
  • Non-dairy Cheese (Kite Hill is my current favorite brand)

Did I have a specific plan of what I was going to do with all that food?

Yes and no.

Yes, I know there are some basic things that I make every week:

  • green smoothies (cucumbers, parsley, bok choy, celery, lemon, bananas, coconut)
  • salads (green salads, coleslaw, carrot-raisin salad)
  • eggs
  • a basic veggie stir-fry with tofu
  • soup
  • and more..

No, I don’t have every meal planned exactly, but if I have a fridge full of vegetables and a pantry that’s stocked with grains and legumes, I know I’ll be able to put together a healthy meal.

I hope that seeing the transformation of my fridge inspires you on two levels:

1. Don’t diet – feed yourself well instead (if you need help figuring out how to do that – or what that might look like for you – I can help)

2. Fill your fridge with real whole foods.

But, If you’re looking at my fridge and thinking “oh no, all that food means I’d have to cook and be in the kitchen all day,” I’ll tell you this: really, it’s not as time consuming as you think. Sure, if you don’t cook at all, there will be a bit of a learning curve for you, and it will take more time in the beginning (I certainly wasn’t always as speedy in the kitchen as I am now), but you can do this!

You can feed yourself whole, real foods that will support you to feel great!
