Smoothie freezer packs
I made a cool gift for a new mom this weekend – a freezer bag filled with smoothie packs!

Each bag contained everything she needed to make a delicious, and nutritious smoothie. All she had to do was add water and blend.
As I popped it into her freezer, I realized that we ALL need ready-to-blend smoothie packs in our freezer, for a quick healthy snack.
  • They are SO easy to make
  • Way cheaper than store bought smoothies.
  • And you have more control of the ingredients, so you are more likely to get a higher quality and healthier smoothie.
So, without further ado….

EASY FREEZER SMOOTHIE PACKS

STEP #1:

  • LAY OUT YOUR FREEZER BAGS AND INGREDIENTS (choose organic when possible)
HERE ARE POSSIBLE INGREDIENTS:
FRUITS:
  • Fresh or frozen strawberries
  • Fresh or frozen raspberries (if you like the seedy texture)
  • Fresh or frozen mango
  • Frozen pitted cherries
  • Fresh or frozen bananas
  • Fresh or frozen peaches

NUTS: (use raw not roasted)

  • Almonds
  • Brazil nuts
  • Hazelnuts
  • Walnuts

SEEDS:

  • Hemp seeds
  • Chia seeds
  • Flax seeds

BOOSTERS: (for added energy)

  • Bee Pollen
  • Maca
  • coconut oil or butter or flakes

STEP #2:

Fill your freezer bags with your chosen ingredients.

For a well-balanced smoothie choose…

  • 2-3 fruits (equaling about 1 cup of fruit)
  • 1 type of nut  (about 1/4 cup)
  • 1 seed (about 2 tablespoons)
  • 1 booster (about 1 tsp)

A few recipe notes:

  • If you choose more than the flavors will get a bit murky and not as tasty.
  • If you choose only one fruit it will be a bit boring 🙁
  • Adding seeds and nuts are VERY important in making an energizing and filling fruit smoothie. If you only blend fruit, you will find yourself on a sugar roller-coaster! Your blood sugar levels will go up, and then come crashing down, and you’ll fell tired and hungry. Adding the healthy fat and protein of the nuts and seeds keeps your blood sugar levels more even keeled.
  • You’ll notice I don’t have milk of any kind on the ingredient list. (No cow milk, no almond or coconut milk) It’s not necessary. The nuts will blend with the water and create it’s own wonderful texture.
  • Also, there’s no PERFECT smoothie recipe! There’s only what YOU love. So be creative, experiment and try different combinations!

STEP #3:

  • Stash your assembled freezer bags in the freezer

STEP #4:

  • When you’re ready for your smoothie, toss the contents of your bag into the blender.
  • Add 2-3 cups of water. Make it the thickness that you like.
  • ENJOY!
