Here’s how to have a relationship with your body that will change your life!

You are most likely on  Facebook or Twitter, perhaps Linkedin or maybe even my latest obsession Pinterest.  The purpose of these networks – of course – is to connect you with other people. But what is set up (in this fast-paced world of ours) for you to connect with yourself and your own body?

Social Networking with Your Body!

This is how it works. Your body would send you short little blurbs about how you’re doing, how it’s feeling, what you need, and what kind of food would make it run most effectively. Sounds great doesn’t it?

Well, the amazing thing is that this “network” already exists! Your body is constantly sending you twitter tweets and Facebook updates! But are you listening? Do you even know what language your body is speaking?

It is speaking the language of symptoms and sensations. That’s how our body talks to us.

Each symptom our body has, each ache and pain, is our body communicating. Each everyday run-of-the-mill body sensation is the constant whispering (or yelling) of our body.

Many of us were taught to actually ignore our body’s messages, even to override them. For great health you must have a conversation with these sensations. This needs to be a two way street. Your body speaks to you, and you respond.

Here’s how to start listening to your body and learning it’s language.

  • Breathe: Slow down and take long gentle breaths
  • Scan your body
  • Sense what sensations are occurring in your body
  • Stop and deeply feel each one
  • If each sensation had a twitter tweet, Facebook update or Pinterest image attached to it, what would your body be saying to you?

By listening to the message of your body you will learn what your body really needs to feel great!
