What it takes to feel really fullHave you ever:

  • eaten beyond when you were full?
  • Craved food even when you weren’t hungry?
  • Nibbled on whatever was lying around, and then wondered why the heck you ever even picked it up?
  • Eaten to numb out or soothe hard emotions that were bubbling up?

These are complaints I hear all the time.

“Nina, I know what I should be doing to take care of myself, but I just can’t make it happen!”

I totally get it.

You know what the basic mechanics are – more veggies, more water, more exercise, etc. – but knowing that alone is not enough. There’s a deeper level to nourishing ourselves that we have to work with, in order to make lasting changes.

Today, I want to talk to you about one of the core issues, when it comes to truly having a respectful and healthy relationship with your body.

And that’s the God hole.

I call this place the “God hole” because when I was in my twenties living in NYC (that was 30 years ago!), I used to eat giant muffins from the Waverly Coffee Shop. I would get them grilled, with butter on them – you know – those muffins that are the size of an outstretched hand.

I loved those muffins! They were perfect because they filled what I called my “God hole.”

We all have that place, the place of longing, of wanting meaningful connection, belonging, and purpose. It’s a place within in us that deeply wants to be filled, and often we fill it with a zillion other things – food, Facebook, wine, TV – but really…what it wants is to be filled with is God.

Now please don’t freak out when I say God. I’m not touting a specific religion or kind of faith. I invite you to substitute your word of whatever is sacred and central for you – spirit, energy, nature.

You may be thinking…

“Seriously Nina, God is supposed to fill that huge hunger in me that can’t stop eating, even when I know I’ve eaten enough”

Yes, actually, that’s exactly what I’m saying, but….

It’s not always so easy to suddenly fill up on God instead of muffins, it’s a process.

And to get you rolling with this process, I have 3 powerful starter steps for you.

STEP ONE:

Allow yourself to actually feel the “God hole.”

Let yourself feel the “wanting” – the “longing” – the “desire” in your life. We often avoid these feelings because they aren’t comfortable to hang out with. But the more you can actually let yourself feel the “God hole,” the more likely you are able to fill it with what it truly needs – instead of a muffin.

STEP TWO:

Create conscious moments in your life that connect you to your experience of divinity.

Things like breathing, praying, dancing and walking in nature tend to connect us to that place of source. Slowing down creates the space for experiencing the sacred.

STEP THREE

Feel in your body what being connected to God actually feels like.

Really feel it! There’s a sensation that goes with that deep feeling of connection and the more you can feel it, the more you can be deeply nourished.

The more you feel deeply nourished, the less likely you are to reach for the chips and cookies and muffins to fill that God hole.

I know: easier said then done….and of course, we all need support to step into new ways of being…SO…

If you feel that you are feeding your soul with cookies and want another way – that doesn’t include dieting – let’s talk.

I want to help you feel deeply nourished – body, mind and soul!

I also have a powerful program starting shortly  – The Radiant & Luminous Experience. It’s a  deep dive into eating and living from a place of deep nourishment, so that you feel your very best.

These are both powerful ways for you to get the support you need to start walking down a new and healthier path to feeling great.

If you want to:

  • Feel stronger, happier and leaner
  • Feel at peace with food
  • Feel truly content in your body
  • and accomplish all of this without deprivation or diets.

Please be in touch. Let’s chat about what your goals are and which learning and support style matches you best – individual or group support.
