True confessions….I have been eating while standing at my kitchen counter, and I’ve been eating in the car!
It must be June!
For many moms June is such a busy month: recitals, concerts, sports events, pot-lucks, and summer planning. We are deep in dance recital-land this weekend!
I have been on the go-go-go! Have you?
When I am always on the go, my food starts being on the go as well. And, really, that doesn’t work at all. I grab food as I can, versus responding to my belly’s real hunger.
So, it’s time for me to send out my yearly public service announcement (I sent this out last year too):
Sit down when you eat!
You probably know by now that I love healthy food, and I relish bringing consciousness into every moment. But, let me tell you honestly: eating in the car and standing at the kitchen counter does not bring any consciousness to wonderful food.
It’s not just about what you eat, it’s a lot about how you eat!
Here’s the challenge for you and me:
For one week,
sit down and relax whenever you eat!
I know this is a powerful practice! Last year when I took this challenge:
- I lost 2 pounds in one week – without changing what that I ate, just how I ate.
- I felt less rushed and more balanced.
- I felt more in tune with my body and its authentic hunger.
Here are the details:
For 1 week, whenever you eat anything, do these five things:

Put your food on a plate.

Sit down.
-
Take a full breath in, and out.
-
Then eat.

Don’t forget to chew.

Yes..i love this idea..as i KNOW i am really guilty of this every week..i find myself, eating breakfast on the run, at the counter, everywhere but at a table, like a civilized human being…i will try to do this for the next week…i need to make this a real commitment..i would love to feel less rushed…Thanks so much for this!
