BODY-RAGE
I’m so angry
But I don’t want to numb my anger with cookies
I’m filled with rage
But I won’t turn it inwards – on my belly or hips
I’m filled with fury and judgment at the men and women who don’t respect my body
But I won’t judge other women’s bodies as a diversion and perpetuation of their violence.
I choose to feel the bubble of rage in my body
I choose to step into the discomfort of wrath
I don’t shy away from the nausea of my disgust
or the intensity of my ire
I choose to feel
To be IN my body
To let my sensations
my wisdom
my physical form
and her sacred story
Lead me to what I know is true and right.
I stand with my sisters
I honor their body-stories
I thank them for speaking the truth
I honor our collective rage
And know that as we feel it
As we listen to it
As we speak it
As we stand in it
As we act from it
We not only heal our bodies,
we heal our world.
