If I treated my body like she was as holy as she really is..
Every day I would…
feed her fresh figs
swim at Walden Pond naked
bathe in coconut and patchouli oil
have my feet rubbed and my scalp massaged
I would…
dance in silky soft dresses that floated with my every move
eat chocolate that made my mouth sigh with pleasure
touch the people I love with giant hugs and gentle caresses
touch and be touched by my lover with nerve-tingling-mind-blowing sensitivity
If I treated my body like she was as holy as she really is…
I would…
listen closely to the way she whispers her needs and I would rest when she says I’m tired
I would…
remember that this corporal experience is temporary
remember that my body is part of all that is divine
remember that I forget all this
I would…
forgive myself for my forgetting
be gentle with myself on the days I ignore my personal holy temple
grieve the wounds that alienate me from the miracle of me
If I treated my body like she was the holy of holies,
Everyday I would…
thank that big universal energy that I believe in, that we’re linked, and ask for help in remembering this absolute connection
And…
Every day I would stand tall and true and remind other women that their body is truly the holy of holies, their own sacred temple to be treasured. And that enjoying, nourishing and listening to their body are sacred acts.
