I write a lot about food on my blog. I talk all about food in my raw classes. I wax poetic about healthy foods to moms who want to feed their kids well. I cook a lot, and eat even more.
I’m a lot about food.
And I’m not.
I’m about what nourishes you on all levels, most especially your soul.
I just finished reading Women, Food and God by Geneen Roth. I read it slowly and carefully over several months, because her words are so powerful and true – I wanted to really take it in consciously – like a delicious meal.
- The stories she tells are my story of being a compulsive over-eater.
- She brings words to the deep soul-longing that has made me a passionate spiritual seeker.
- She blends conscious eating, meditation, yoga, awareness and tons of wisdom in an elegant recipe for healthy living.
- Her approach to how you get to an authentic and peaceful relationship with food, body, and self mirrors my work with my clients.
I am writing about her here for 3 reasons.
- I want to encourage you to read her book.
- if you want support to make this work real in your life, I want to encourage you to call or email me for a free, initial health coaching session. I’ve walked this journey personally and I have the expertise of being a bodyworker/massage therapist specializing in Awareness Bodywork, I have a M.A. in counseling, I’m a Certified Health Coach, I teach yoga and I walk the walk of living with awareness. I can give you the tools to create a loving relationship with your food and your body.
- I want to tell you a bit of the essence of the book. Geneen Roth, of course says it in so many practical, poetic, and profound ways:
Love your body
Listen to your body
Love your food
Be in the moment
Feel your feelings
Know that you are God or energy or whatever you like to call it.
