Here I am at Boston Organics’ warehouse!
Boston Organics is how I make sure I have healthy food in my kitchen at all times. They deliver fresh organic food to my door!
I especially wanted to show you this recipe while I was at Boston Organics, because I made up this recipe from the ingredients that came to me in my Boston Organics weekly box.
Belly Bowl:
This is such a nourishing a satisfying mini-meal or snack. It’s easy to pack in a container to take to work, but I often have it as a quick lunch when I am working from home.
Ingredients:
- 1 Avocado
- 1/2 cup Naturally Fermented Sauerkraut
My current favorite brand is Real Pickles. Their sauerkraut comes in many flavors, my current favorite is garlic. (I did however, go through a serious Spicy Asian phase in the dead of winter. It kept me warm!)
You can order it through Boston Organics or pick it up at your local health food store. If you can’t find Real Pickles look for the words, RAW or Naturally Fermented.
Cut Avocado in half and top with sauerkraut!
Really, it’s that simple.
Watch the video for tips on cutting your avocado and why fermented food is so good for you!

Great to see your very unusual combo; sauerkraut and avocado. I’ll try it to see if it works for me.
The tip on cutting open an avocado and removing the bit is valuable. I’ve never done this without a mess before.
Thanks Nina!
OK–so Phoebe and I watched this and want to try it. We looked at each other and nodded (translation: that’s VERY appealing). Question from Phoebe: Is the Asian sauerkraut really really spicy?
Love the tip about getting the pit out. I knew about twisting the halves to separate , but I loved how you did the pit!
I love that Phoebe is intrigued! The Asian Sauerkraut definitely has a kick, but worth a try. Let me know what you think.
Hi Nina,
Thanks for the tip about getting the pit out of the Avaocado. I often eat half an avocado filled with dressing but have never tried other fillings. Will have to branch out. BTW- I love that you packed your vita-mix with you for your Miami trip! XO, Gail
