I’ve been talking a lot about hormones recently, and getting some great questions and feedback.
So today, I wanted to talk about the over-arching question.
Why is it so important to focus on hormones?
Why do we need to pay attention to, and pamper our hormones?
Here’s the deal:
Hormones are chemical messengers that…
- impact metabolism (how easily you gain or lose weight, and how warm or cold you feel)
- coordinate fertility (your monthly cycles)
- synchronize growth
- alter behavior (depression and anxiety are deeply impacted by hormones)
- manage your sexual interest and drive
- impact the quality of your skin and hair
- and so much more!
They tell our body exactly what to do.
So if they’re not functioning well – and aren’t working in harmony with each other – we’ve got problems.
There are many, many hormones at play:
- Adrenalin
- Thyroid
- Estrogen
- Progesterone
- Oxytocin
- Melatonin
- Leptin
- Ghrelin
- and oh so many more!
But there’s one major hormone – that if you’re a busy woman, who is always giving and going and doing – is most definitely out of wack…and that’s Cortisol.
Cortisol is one of our stress hormones. When we’re stressed, when life is demanding a lot from us, our cortisol levels go up and every other hormone is impacted.
And unfortunately, it can get bad. Many, many women are coping with depression, anxiety, and sleep disturbances. This in turn, starts to impact our weight our self-esteem, as well as our basic love of life.
But there’s a solution – and it’s not just “eat less and exercise more”!
Our culture feeds us a lot of very simplified solutions to deep and complex problems. The issues that we are facing deserve to be truly dealt with on the level in which they are occurring – the level of hormones.
My message to you today is – don’t settle for a superficial fix – go for a lasting change. Work with your health on a cellular, chemical, and psychological level. Work with your hormones, pamper them, pay attention to them, learn about them.
We are hormonal beings, and we deserve to have hormonal harmony.
That’s why I’ve dedicated one of my annual programs to this so-important topic.
If you’d like support in making that happen, please join me for a powerful 5 week program – Hormonal Harmony that will deeply impact your health and happiness.
