It was 3pm on Saturday and I wanted a little pick-me-up. I needed to clean the whole house, make some special dishes for a pot-luck and help the kids with their homework – all in two hours. So…
I started by making the kids a delicious peach smoothie and then blended up this divine shake for myself. Kyle said it tasted like chocolate cake batter. As far as I am concerned that’s a good thing.
The other thing to know however, is I don’t drink coffee and I don’t often have chocolate or even raw cacao. I am quite sensitive to caffeine. Put it this way, after having one of these large shakes, I was still high energy and totally productive at 1am.
Here it is:
Raw Chocolate Cherry Shake or Rocket Fuel
The amounts here are a bit of an estimate because I threw it together free-style. So adjust it to your taste.
In the Vita-Mix or blender:
- 10 raw almonds
- 6 raw macadamia nuts
- 1 organic banana
- 15 frozen cherries
- 6 organic pitted dates (soaked until they are soft)
- 2 tablespoons raw cacao powder
- 2 cups of water
Blend it up until smooth and enjoy. Just don’t have it too late in the day!
