SHOCKING & LIBERATING BODY & FOOD ADVICE

I want to share some wisdom I gave one of my clients this week because it totally shocked her.

Let me begin with saying that I LOVE hearing how great my clients are doing!

I just finished leading a group of women in my Nourished Woman Intensive and the positive results are pouring in.

They’re…

  • Enjoying more energy
  • Feeling years younger
  • Experiencing less cravings
  • Forgoing late-night snacking

Fantastic, right?

But often, right after my clients tell me how great they are doing, they say…

  • I want to hold on to this great feeling.
  • I really want this to stick.
  • I don’t ever want to fall off the wagon again!
  • How do I never return to my old painful food habits?

This is exactly what one of my clients said to me this week.

She said:

“I feel SO great, I want to stay like this forever. But, I’m afraid I’m going to revert back to my old ways. How do I stay on this path?

Here’s the advice I told her. It shocked and liberated her.

I said…

“I’m thrilled you feel great. I understand you want to always stay in this fantastic-feeling place, but I can assure you, at some moment you will revert back to some of your old ways.”

“WHAT?,” she said. That’s not at all what you were supposed to say! I expected you to give me the key to always staying on this healthy eating plan.”

“Nope,” I said. “I can’t give you the magic formula for absolutely consistent ‘perfect’ eating, because life happens. We have highs, we have lows. We have experiences of expansion and experiences of contraction. We have times of celebration and family traditions. And, sometimes we’re bound to make food choices that don’t make us feel the best.”

“But, I can help you do something much more empowering and liberating than trying to stay ‘on the wagon’ and be imprisoned by the stress of trying to be perfect. I can help you know how to come back into a harmonious relationship with your body if you’ve disconnected from yourself.”

I could hear her sigh of relief. She didn’t have to be perfect. She didn’t have to feel stressed about being on a “diet” her whole life. She didn’t have to worry about failing.

This liberation from perfection is actually a doorway into a real, healthy and powerful relationship with  our bodies. Like most friendships, the majority of the time, we’ll be the best of friends. We’ll take care of each other and talk to each other with ease. But, sometimes, we’ll have misunderstandings; we’ll tread on each others toes. The sign of a real relationship is one where we can talk to each other and come back to love and connection. This is exactly what we want with our relationship with our body.

Feeling good in our bodies is not about eating perfectly every day. It’s about listening deeply to our needs and doing our very best to nourish ourselves.

I’ve had tremendous success helping women create a positive, loving and nourishing relationship with their bodies and food. If this is something you’d like to experience, I invite you to join me for my Radiant & Luminous Experience. Click here for more information.
