We just went apple picking and now I have oodles of apples in my kitchen. I had plans for dehydrated apples, apple crisps, apple cake, etc…

But then life happened and I got busy and didn’t get into the kitchen. However,  I couldn’t fall asleep and decided I would just go with the energy of my wakeful state and prepare some of those apples.

Since it was late, I decided to keep it simple.

Slow Cooker Applesauce or Pressure Cooked applesauce

Ingredients:

  • 8 or so Apples
  • 1/2 cup water

How to:

  • Wash, Core and Dice about 8 apples – I leave the skin on to retain all of the nutrition.
  • Put them in the INSTANT POT (use it either as a pressure cooker or slow cooker) or slow cooker or pressure cooker
  • Add 1/2 cup of water
  • Set Slow Cooker to High heat for 6 hours (go to sleep) or Set Instant Pot to 4 min pressure.

Feel free to add cinnamon, ginger, cardamom or any other yummy topping you like. I kept it plain so it would be versatile for other uses (like muffins or pancakes).

and ta-da!

Hot applesauce with ease.

Do you see the steam rising?
