I’m so sorry…

An apology from a Health Coach

I’m sorry I told you what to eat

I’m sorry I told you when to eat it

I’m sorry that I thought my body-wisdom

was your body-wisdom

It’s not.

I studied nutrition for years

I passed the big exams

I have all the right letters behind my name

to give me the credibility to tell you what’s “healthy” to eat.

But I can tell you,

I was misguided.

I thought the INFO was the answer

It’s not.

Your knowing

Your hunger

Your desire

Your needs

Your body-story

Is the answer.

I’ve come back to my roots

I started my work with women 28 years ago,

helping them to feel safe in their bodies…

Helping them find words to go with their internal experience

Helping them bring their sacred body-story into the light.

I started with my hands on women’s bodies,

I was a bodyworker

I hate that word: body-worker.

I didn’t work ON bodies.

I worked WITH bodies

I work WITH women

I made space for their magnificence

For their release

I made a space for it to be safe to be in a body.

And now, 28 years later.

With plenty of letters that show my knowing,

my experience and my devotion,

Again, I am making space for women to be in a safe,

caring, loving, compassionate, responsive

and respectful relationship with their own bodies.

I won’t tell you what to eat.

I won’t assume that what feels good for my body

will do the same for you.

But I will support you in finding a way to nourish yourself

in ways that include

but go well beyond what you put on your fork.

I’m sorry if I ever made you feel like there was

a “right” away to eat

Or a “right” way to treat your body

Are there ways that will make you feel more alive?

Is there a path to feeling more at ease

and at home in your body?

YES, for sure.

But it must be YOUR way

YOUR unique, nourished path

And just in case it makes you nervous

‘cause you don’t know “your way” to feeling nourished?

Don’t worry.

It’s very possible you never learned it,

Most of us didn’t.

We learned how to care for everyone else

One thing I’ve learned is that we as women

need support and community

to find our own way home to peace in our bodies.
