• Are you BODY-CURRENT“My body was always so strong, I want that back.”
  • “I never had food sensitivities before, I don’t understand why my digestion is off”
  • “I want to fit into the skinny jeans I wore before I had kids.”
  • “How can I love THIS body! It has to change!”

I mostly work with women over 40, and I often hear the longing for a body that existed years ago. Sometimes, it’s a desire to have the college body, or the pre-kids body, or the pre-menopause body.

It’s completely understandable to want that earlier, shiny version of our self. But really, as much as I know that women can heal and love their body, I know that yearning for an old version of yourself doesn’t help one bit!

We have to stay Body-Current!

Body-Current is a phrase I’ve coined and it means relating, responding, and nurturing your NOW body. It means not defining what you eat so you can look like you once did – or eating foods just because it’s what you always ate – even if your body doesn’t respond well to those foods anymore. Being Body-Current means exercising in a way that strengthens and enlivens your body, instead of injuring or depleting your body.

Being Body-Current means being real with yourself. It means acknowledging what she (your body) needs at this particular time of your life.

Body-current doesn’t mean settling with being unhappy with your body. It doesn’t mean that your body will never change. But it does mean befriending your body AS IT IS. It means respecting and responding to the specific needs of your current-day body, and from that place, we can make a shift to feel even more dynamic and at ease in our body.

How do you know if you’re not Body-Current? And if you’re not, how do get Body-Current?

The biggest clues to NOT being Body-Current are:

  • You hear yourself wishing you had your old body.
  • You’re waiting to fit into your old clothes, instead of buying clothes that fit you now.
  • You compare your wondrous body to what was.
  • You’re holding onto foods that you used to eat, or ways you used to eat, that you really know are no longer working for you.

So how do you get Body-Current?

Ask yourself…

  • What do I feel RIGHT NOW?
  • What is my body longing for at this time of my life?
  • What do I know works for my body? (foods, movement, etc)
  • What do I know doesn’t work for my body? (foods movement, etc)
  • What are the particular needs that my body has now?

Working towards being Body-Current has great benefits. You’ll feel happier in your own skin, and when you feel more at ease in your own body, caring and nourishing yourself become easier.

Basically being Body-Current helps you step into a healthy and positive relationship with your body – and that feels fantastic!

And that’s what I want for you!
