delicious & nutritious!

I’m off with my family for some summer camping and before I go, I want to give you the recipe for the Superfood Trail Mix that I will be taking with me.

It couldn’t be easier. Just put all the ingredients in a big container and you’re good to go.

Don’t get hung up with having these exact ingredients. It’s a flexible recipe – omit what you don’t like – and add what you love.

If you do start substituting ingredients be mindful to:

  • not include ingredients that contain sugar. Dried fruit is a place where you will often find sugar added, so be sure to check your labels.
  • not add nuts that have been salted, honeyed, or candied.
  • choose raw nuts whenever possible, as opposed to roasted or processed.

Superfood Trail Mix

  • 1 cup raw Brazil nuts
  • 1 cup raw almonds
  • 1 cup raw walnuts or pecans
  • 1 cup raw cashews or macadamia
  • 1 cup raw cacao nibs (for an extra kick of energy)
  • 1 cup golden/inca berries (they are tart and tangy, Navitas Naturals is a quality company that packages them)
  • 1 cup dried mulberries (Navitas as well)
  • 1 cup goji berries
  • 1 cup raisins or currants

Here are some other options that are delicious: dried apricots, dried cherries (watch for added sugar), dried pineapple, dried apples, dried blueberries, dried coconut. You can also find dried cranberries that have been fruit sweetened (usually with apple juice concentrate).

Mix in a big bowl.

Put it in snack bags.

Don’t leave home without it!
